As we move into the winter in the Northern Hemisphere, I am reflecting on what life is asking of me. Here is what’s unfolding even as I navigate moments of deep grief and loss.
I want to help create new worlds, new ways of being. I want people to find pathways to healing that allow quantum leaps, jumps, flights of fantasy that turn into flights of transformation. I want us to understand that we need to dream in new ways of being while we continue to engage with current structures and systems. If we continue to be oppositional to all that is broken as our only path, then we continue to imbue it with power.
I want people to find their deep connections to earth and to spirit, to heart and to all beings. I want to expand from a framework of human rights beginning with you to one of “lokesh samastah sukhino bhavantu.” May all beings be happy and free and may my thoughts, words and actions contribute in some way to the happiness of all beings. I want us to understand our interconnections with all creatures great and small, with the elementals, with the earth itself. I want us to be blessed with tree friends who ground us and help us soar even as we honor them.
I want joy, curiosity, reciprocity, love and compassion to be as popular and pervasive as hate, anger, jealousy and pain so that when we find ourselves in places of trauma, we have multiple pathways to dream new worlds. I want the spiritual and social justice to intertwine and dance with one another so that we address inequalities, create accountability, and simultaneously imagine and create new structures with grace and love.
I want my words to unleash new mythologies and new stories to dream new worlds into being. Where Red Riding Hood embraces the wolf as her shadow and becomes a powerful red witch connected to the molten core of the earth. Where Sleeping Beauty goes on spirit flight and meets her star siblings in Andromeda to bring back the magic that will transform weapons into wands.
I want my own journey of healing trauma to become the fertilizer for other healing journeys toward our collective wholeness.
I want to power love.
What is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?
